Our retirement calculator estimates how much money you will have at retirement and how much you will be able to withdraw on a monthly basis for the rest of your life.
To generate the estimate, we consider a three-asset portfolio of stocks, bonds, and gold and simulate its performance over the remainder of your life. We adjust the returns for inflation and adjust your asset allocations based on the time until retirement--the younger you are the more your portfolio is allocated to stocks - and vice versa. We assume that both your income and monthly savings increases by 2% per year until retirement. Once you reach retirement, our calculator assumes you stop saving and begin withdrawing assets for living expenses, and that what you do not withdraw continues to grow based on your then conservatively allocated portfolio.
